AMHERST – Members of the Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit conducted an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act in the town of Amherst, arresting four people and netting a quantity of drugs.
As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was executed Tuesday, Nov. 13, on an Amherst residence and a quantity of marijuana and oxycodone tablets were seized, along with other evidence to support trafficking charges for both substances.
Two Amherst residents, a 43-year-old woman and her 49-year-old husband were both on Conditional Sentence Orders at the time and were remanded into custody by the Amherst Provincial Court.
Both parties will reappear on Tuesday, November 20, to enter pleas to breaching a Conditional Sentence, as well as Charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking, production of marihuana, and possession of cannabis resin.
Charges were also laid against a 38-year old Amherst man for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on December 17.
