Preparations for Kraft Celebration Tour begin
Pugwash prepares for Kraft Celebration Tour visit
PUGWASH – The countdown is on for Pugwash as they prepare for next week’s visit from the Kraft Celebration Tour and TSN.
The village entered a competition along with 572 other applicants for a shot at having the tour make a stop at their town during the cross-country voyage. On July 1 it was announced that they were in the top 20, and it was something that event organizer Alex Parker couldn’t imagine when they first signed up.
“It was one of those things where you enter and you might have a shot, and you never think that it’s going to be you that gets picked. But after they announced that top 20 it became real. It was something we knew we could actually accomplish.”
Among the events planned for the tour stop are a bouncy castle, slip n’ slide, mini put, soap-box derby racing and jousting, and about 15 different sampling tents.
A large movement is now taking place to get the town ready.
“We got a lot of signs and posters that have to be put up; the amount of volunteers that they require for the event is a lot. They’re recommending 75 volunteers for that event and it’s only in an afternoon. But we’ve had a lot of support, a lot of people willing to help out.”
The Kraft Celebration Tour will begin it’s events in the afternoon of August 20.
Parker said he’s excited.
“It’ll probably be the biggest thing to ever come to Pugwash, that’s for sure.”
