NORTHPORT – Sometimes it’s tough for parents of kids with autism to take their kids to places like the beach, but today nobody had to miss out thanks to a beach party hosted by the Autism Society.
Barbequed hotdogs and hamburgers were served alongside lemonade and chips, and the kids were able to run and have fun, which is something Dr. Pippa Moss likes to see.
“It’s lovely for me to see the kids able to play with each other. It’s a nice change from the office.”
Dr. Moss is a psychiatrist associated with Autism Society and says that get-togethers like this really help parents of kids with autism.
“It gives them a chance to have a normal social event where they can interact without risk of judgment. Every kid should get to go to the beach.”
