Brendan Aresneault and his mom get signed up for next week’s Wii Olympics, while also getting dressed up as a police officer for Thursday’s Halloween day at the Four Fathers Memorial Library.

AMHERST –The Olympic games have graced cities such as Athens, Beijing, and Moscow, and next Thursday they’ll be here in Amherst.

Not the real Olympics of course, but Wii Olympics, hosted by the Four Fathers Memorial Library, where kids from pre-school to Grade 6 can compete for medals.

“It’s a fun, simple bit of exercise that might teach them about London along the way,” said youth services worker Chantelle Taylor.

“We were wondering what we could do that Thursday and thought, the Olympics are happening in London, why not have something like that here?”

The Wii Olympics will feature many of the actual Olympic events, including soccer, badminton, aquatics, and even equestrian.

The Wii Olympics kick off at the Four Fathers Memoral Library July 26 at 10 a.m., and you can call or visit the library to register.
