Connie LeBlanc helps out a customer during her last few days before retiring from her position as manager of the ladies department at Dayle’s department store.

AMHERST – To most people, the year 1967 brings up thoughts of a changing world of rock and roll and freedom.

But with time the memory of that year has faded. But not to Connie LeBlanc, because that’s the year she started working at Dayle’s Department store.

Now it’s 43 years later, and she has only two days to go before retiring from her position as manager of the ladies’ department.

It’s a bitter sweet feeling, LeBlanc said.

“It really feels like my store. I love it here, all the staff and the customers and how nice they are.”

LeBlanc has worked there even longer then the current store-owner Karen Cormier, who said she’s a stellar employee.

“I don’t think in the 43 years that she’s worked here that she has missed a single day. We’re going to miss her, for sure.”

Congratulations on 45 years there! (1967 would be 45 years) . I love shopping at Dayle's because of the people who work there!

All the best Connie in your retirement. I left Amherst for work in Halifax the same year you started at Margolians. By the way, the current town administratioin building was dedicated that centennial year and my dad sealed the copper box that contained artifacts of that year that was placed in back of the cornerstone. A copy of the Amherst Daily News is in there too.
