SPRINGHILL – After three decade in the suds business Lamp Cabin Dining Room and Lounge owner Ron Reynolds hopes the landmark business’ 30th anniversary on Saturday is nothing like his opening day.
“The first day was crazy,” Reynolds says. “It was pouring down rain and the parking lot was a mud slide. We had to carry cases of beer inside on boards over the ground…the fan in the kitchen didn’t work and the whole place filled up with smoke when the girls started cooking up steaks.”
“It’s a tough trade,” Reynolds says. “The trends change so quickly you never know. We do more now in the food trade than the bar trade which, really, is a compliment to the staff and our clientele. We have clientele that’s been coming to us for all 30 years"
Owning a bar has given Reynolds the unique opportunity to watch his clientele and staff grow.
It’s with this success in mind Reynolds looked at when deciding on an anniversary celebration, deciding to stretch the event from a one-day event into a four-day blitz.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday and every night up to Saturday two bands will perform on the Keiths Mainstage outside of the bar and then on Saturday afternoon co-ed volleyball and washer toss tournaments are scheduled; cake cutting at 6 p.m. with special guests, followed by more live entertainment.
