Amber Kirwan: 19-year-old Amber Kirwan went missing on Oct. 9, 2011. She had been at Dooly's in New Glasgow and walked in the direction of Big Al's to meet her boyfriend Mason Campbell. She never arrived, however. Her remains were found Nov. 5, 2011 in Heathbell, Pictou County.

Christopher Alexander Falconer: 31-year-old Pictou County resident was charged with the murder of Amber Kirwan. Falconer entered a not guilty plea on Jan. 6, 2014.

Mike Taylor: Chris Falconer’s defense lawyer is Mike Taylor. He is an associate lawyer at Presse Mason Law Office. He has practiced primarily in the area of Criminal Defence for more than 20 years. Practice also includes Personal Injury, Civil Litigation and representing Survivors of abuse in Canada's Indian Residential Schools.

Bill Gorman: The crown attorney leading the case against Chris Falconer is Bill Gorman.
Gorman was appointed a Crown attorney in 2008, but had worked previously as a per diem Crown attorney starting in 2003.
A native of Antigonish, Gorman received his undergraduate degree in 1984 at St. Francis Xavier University. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick Law School in 1988.
Gorman articled at the law firm of LeBlanc MacDonald Pickup in Port Hawkesbury and was admitted to the Nova Scotia bar in 1989. He practiced with LeBlanc MacDonald Pickup until 1995. Shortly afterward, he and a partner established the law firm of Gorman MacLaughlin. He then practiced on his own for a few years.

Patrick Young: Patrick Young is a Crown attorney in the New Glasgow office of the Public Prosecution Service. He was appointed in 2010.
A native of Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, Young graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts and from Carleton University in 2002 with a Master of Arts. He went on to law school at the University of New Brunswick, graduating in 2005.
Young articled with Cox Hanson O'Reilly Matheson in Charlottetown and later joined the Prince Edward Island Department of Justice and Attorney General as a Crown attorney. In 2007 Mr. Young was appointed a Crown prosecutor with the Alberta Department of Justice and Attorney General and was based in Peace River.

Mason Campbell: Mason Campbell was Amber Kirwan’s boyfriend. She had phoned him and arranged to meet him at Big Al’s after leaving Dooly’s the night she disappeared. Campbell said Kirwan never arrived that night and he assumed she must have gone home with someone else. The next day after calling her friends and not being able to find her he started searching for her.

Closing arguments at Falconer murder trial

Both the Crown and defence had one last chance to address the seven-woman, six-man jury during closing arguments Friday in Pictou Supreme Court. Falconer is accused of killing Amber Kirwan, 19, who went missing Oct. 9, 2011, from downtown New Glasgow.

Father of accused testifies

The Crown closed its case early Thursday morning and defence lawyer Mike Taylor called one witness to the stand, Scott Falconer Jr.
Scott is the father of accused, who is charged in connection with the death of 19-year-old Kirwan who went missing from a downtown New Glasgow street on Oct. 9, 2011.

Audio tapes from telephone conversations he had with his father and step-mother as well as a police interview were entered into evidence by the Crown as it continues into the third week of the first-degree murder trial of Christopher Alexander Falconer.

Alice Meier will testify for the Crown during the first-degree murder trial of Falconer who accused of killing 19-year-old Amber Kirwan between Oct. 9 and Nov. 5, 2011.
She disappeared from a downtown New Glasgow street on Oct. 9 after partying with friends at Dooley's and her remains were found off a logging road in Heathbell about a month later.

Former girlfriends testify in Chris Falconer murder trial

Two former girlfriends, who both had some sort of relationship with Falconer in the summer and fall of 2011, testified during his first-degree murder trial about the time he spent with him.
The 31-year-old Pictou man is accused of killing 19-year-old Amber Kirwan who went missing from a downtown New Glasgow street Oct. 9, 2011. Her remains were found in Heathbell on Nov. 5.

Accused asked girlfriend to lie about whereabouts

Jerricka Ebrahim testified in court Wednesday that she told Falconer sometime after Amber Kirwan went missing on Oct. 9 that police were asking questions about him and he asked her lie and say they were together.
"Just lie and say I was with you," she said. "Just don't say that I wasn't."
She told Crown attorney Patrick Young she would lie for him because she "really liked him."

No sign of accused's fingerprints in camper at focus of murder trial

Cpl. Matthew Mader, a member of the RCMP forensic unit, confirmed Tuesday in Pictou Supreme Court during the first-degree murder trial of 31-year-old Falconer that prints from the accused did not turn up on any items seized and tested from the travel camper in Hardwood Hill.

Forensic evidence detailed at Falconer trial in death of Amber Kirwan

Cpl. Matthew Mader of the RCMP forensic identification team told the 13 member jury he became involved in the Kirwan missing person investigation on Oct. 14, 2011 when he was informed that some clothing was found in Heathbell.
He arrived at the access road in Heathbell where black leggings and earrings were found in the early morning hours of Oct. 15 and seized them as evidence.

Her boyfriend, Mason Campbell, finished his testimony Thursday recapping how he left their apartment to pick up Kirwan after receiving a call from her around 1:40 a.m. on Oct. 9.

Friends continue testimony in Amber Kirwan murder trial

Two friends, Christie Fiander and Morgan Curley, testified Tuesday afternoon about a party at Kirwan's home in Pictou Landing that she shared with her boyfriend Mason Campbell. Fiander and Curley said they left Kirwan's apartment later in the evening in a taxi and headed to Dooly's.
Both witnesses confirmed that the black sweater, leggings and blue and black top shown to them in photos by the Crown looked identical to the clothing that Kirwan was wearing that night.

Family and friends of Amber Kirwan open testimony at Falconer trial

Falconer is charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death of Amber Kirwan who went missing Oct. 9, 2011, after leaving a downtown pool hall. Her remains were found in Heathbell about a month later.
The 31-year-old Pictou County man was originally charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping, but the Crown decided the kidnapping charge was "duplicitous" and already encompassed in the murder charge.

The 31-year-old county man is charged with the kidnapping and first-degree murder of 19-year-old Amber Kirwan between Oct. 9 and Nov. 5, 2011.
Falconer stood on the stage of the deCoste Centre and entered a not guilty plea early on in the proceedings.

Updated: Crown will call 42 witnesses

Supreme Court Justice Nick Scaravelli said 13 jurors will be selected to sit on the month long trial that will take place in Pictou.
Crown Attorney Bill Gorman read out a names of his witness list that included the victim's parents, Donald and Marjorie Kirwan, as well as her boyfriend Mason Campbell.
