PICTOU – Over the past three days, all three party leaders with candidates in Pictou County have been back for a visit.

Progressive Conservative Party Leader Jamie Baillie was in Pictou Oct. 3 with Pictou West candidate Karla MacFarlane for supper at The Lobster Bar Restaurant.

Thursday was Progressive Conservative Party leader Jamie Baillie’s turn with a trip to Pictou for supper at The Lobster Bar Restaurant.

“I’m really pleased with the feedback we’re getting across the province like here in Pictou West with Karla (MacFarlane),” he said about how campaigning has been going.

He said people have told him they’re ready to replace the current MLAs with PC candidates, leaving him feeling encouraged during the final week of the campaign.

Baillie said Pictou County in particular has suffered during the last few years.

“In my view the PCs have only made one promise and that is we are going to get the economy going again. The rest are details about how we’re going to do it,” he said, listing lowering taxes, freezing power rates and scrapping the MLA pension plan as examples.

During Premier Darrell Dexter’s stop in New Glasgow, he mentioned the Liberal and Progressive Conservative parties’ plans to reduce the number of health authorities.

In response, Baillie said it’s a good example of three different plans from three different parties. He said the PC Party plan addresses both the need for a rural voice in health care as well as making administration more efficient.
