The Toronto Children’s Chorus will perform as Music at Trinity, the community concert series at Trinity-St. Stephen’s United Church, on Tuesday, May 20.

The Toronto Children’s Chorus, which is in its 36th season is recognized as one of the finest treble choirs in the world. One of the goals of the choir is the enrichment of children’s lives through the discipline, teamwork and unique camaraderie of fine choral singing.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students, but for the Toronto Children’s Chorus, tickets will only be $5 in order that all children who would like to attend will have the opportunity.

Tonight for live music, Bella's Cafe is hosting Travis Hatcher and there will be no live music at Duncan's Pub.

The Readers Night Out Book Club takes place at the Four Fathers Memorial Library on Tuesday night.

The lively discussion features a different book each month and space is limited. Call 667-2549 to register. May's book is, 'The Heart is a Lonely Hunter' by Carson McCullers.

It goes from 7 until 8 p.m. at the library in Amherst.

Also at the library this week is a program called Plant People. It goes from 3 until 4 p.m. on Thursday and allows those in grades Primary through 6 to show off their green thumb by growing a plant person.

If you are a gardener of want to be, here is some advance notice for the plant sale next week at Cumberland County Museum and Archives. The Annual Plant Sale at the Cumberland County Museum, is Saturday ,May 24, from 8 a.m. until noon.

You’ll find perennials, annuals, herbs, shrubs, soil mix and more. The event is on rain or shine and proceeds support the Cumberland County Museum and anyone interested can call 667-2561 for more information.

This is a lighter week for events, likely due to the holiday for some folks. On Monday, however, there is a number of weekly events which take place in the Amherst area.

On a weekly ongoing basis Dick’s Jamboree hosts a night of music every Wednesday night at Heartz Hall at Trinity-St. Stephen’ s United Church at 7 p.m., on Thursdays it is open mic night at both the Old Warehouse Café and Duncans Pub.

So for musicians in Cumberland County there is no excuse not to get out there and get on stage, work on new songs or hone your craft.

The Sackville Art Association offers weekly art lessons on Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Middle Sackville Baptist Church, 14 Church St. at Silver Lake.
