The Joggins legion will be hosting a dance in honour of St. Patrick's Day this Saturday, March 15 from 9:30 pm until 1:00 am. Music by Maccan’s Alfred Dwyer.
Condolences are sent out to four River Hebert and area natives who passed away recently: River Hebert native Sandy (Melanson) Libby, 64, of Fort Langley, British Columbia, who passed away on February 15; Joggins native Lloyd Walter Vandenburg, 81, of Amherst who passed away on February 23; Bernard J. Grant, 77, of River Hebert who passed away on March 4 and Chris Berry, 56, River Hebert, who passed away peacefully on March 4 surrounded by family members.
This past weekend, the River Hebert District Elementary School Mini Girls Raiders hosted a five-team basketball tournament at River Hebert District High that featured teams from Advocate, Oxford, Parrsboro and Spring Street Academy.
The Raiders are Danika Breau, Isabella Carmichael, Ashley Desjardins, Chloe Fagan, Jenna Gower, Julia Griggs, Destiny Hicks, Hannah Langille, Jenna McIver, Jada O’Brien, Madison Reid, Britney Taylor,coaches: Darrell Fagan, Carrie White.
New Horizons card party results for Monday, March 3-Ladies’ first place: Emmie Porter; ladies’ second place: Laura Brown. Men’s first place: Henry Burke; men’s second place: Ray Fagan; door prize: Edith Purdy; consolation prize: Irene Hebert.
Following their weekly card party at the Joggins log building, members of New Horizons enjoyed a beautiful meal at Margie’s Bayview Restaurant in Joggins.
Heritage Models museum manager Rose Ulch informed me recently that its board is looking for new members to be part of an exciting future at Heritage Models.
Finally this week, the River Hebert, Joggins and Area Development Association announced that the second annual Minudie Music Festival will be taking place in August. More information will be made available in the weeks and months ahead.

March 22: River Hebert legion benefit for the surviving family of Chris Berry. Breakfast and bake sale table* from 8:00 am until 11:00 am. Silent auction, 50/50 draw and benefit dance featuring Derailed between 9:30 pm and 1:00 am. Anyone who makes a donation will be entered to win a 40 inch flat screen TV. *Donations and baked goods, which are still being accepted, can be dropped off Friday night (or Saturday morning after 7:00 am) at the legion or by contacting Lisa White;
March 29: Wing night at the Joggins legion. Six dollars per order;
March 30: Joggins Improvement Committee Bingo at Joggins Fire Hall at 7:00 pm.
*April 16: Hoppy Easter at library, P-6, 3:00 pm-4:00 pm. Registration required.
*April 17: River Hebert Library Book Miners, 6:00-7:00pm. Registration required.
