River Hebert and Area News
Deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences are sent out to the family and friends of two River Hebert and area natives who passed away recently: Roy Joseph LeBlanc, 73, who passed away on Monday, November 11, and Jason Cluney who died on Monday, November 18 as a result of a tragic accident in Tisdale, Saskatchewan while working for CN Railroad. He was only 39 years old.
Special happy 60th wedding anniversary wishes are sent to out to Kathryn and Garnet McEachern on December 3. Love & best wishes from Wanda, Gary Howard, Nancy, Harlan, Kathy, Darlene, Jim, Kevin, Michelle; your 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Hope that you have a wonderful day.
On Monday, November 18, the board of the Dr. Cochrane Medical Centre held its annual general meeting. The following information came out of that meeting:
-There were 10 births in our area last year;
-There are currently 4 pregnancies to report;
-The centre has served 30 new clients in the past 6 months;
-Nurse practitioner Heidi Fairbanks served 700 clients;
-Many new programs, including a new health care program at our local school;
-It holds a weekly blood collection clinic;
New Horizons card party results for November 18: Ladies’ first place: Irene Hebert; second: Laura Brown; Men’s first/door prize winner: Donnie Melanson; second place: Ray Fagan. Later on that day, members of the New Horizons card party enjoyed a delicious supper at Patterson’s Family Restaurant in Sackville, NB.
The River Hebert Trinity United Church is having a Christmas Tea and Social on Saturday November 30 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Church Hall. This includes a bake sale and silent auction (11:00 am-12:00 pm). The price of the tea is $5.00.
The Maccan United Church, which is merging with River Hebert, will be holding its closing service on Sunday, December 1 at 1:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.
I have been informed that there will be no Joggins Improvement Committee Bingo the last Sunday in December due to the Christmas Holidays. Speaking of which, copies of The Co-op 70th Anniversary Cook Book, which would make a great stocking stuffer idea, are still available at the River Hebert Co-Op for $10.00.

December 7: River Hebert native Jeff Burbine will share his story about his journey to Ironman Worlds in Hawaii at 11:00 am at the Joggins Fossil Centre;

December 15: Joggins Fossil Centre Gift Shop Christmas Sidewalk Sale from 11:00 am -2:00 pm. Free tea/coffee/cider/cookies. Soup and chowder for purchase;
