Saskatchewan printmaker Gordan Novak will be conducting a pair of tours of his exhibition currently on display at the Art Gallery of Swift Current.
This Friday, Novak will be leading a 4 p.m. afternoon public tour, plus he will conduct a tour during the coffeehouse evening starting at 7:30 p.m.
Novak's exhibition, The China Workshops, was developed during a trip to the Zanghjijaije International Oil Painting Art Workshop in Nov. 2012.
While wandering the grounds of the Pulman International Hotel of Zanghjijaije, China during the workshop, he and fellow Canadian artist Anong Beam came across large sheets of glass. Being printmakers, they saw opportunity in the reflection of that glass, and took advantage of it. Together they made several monotypes, which soon attracted attention from the other artists in residence. Unplanned and unscheduled, Novak collaborated with 13 artists on their monotypes. At the end of the workshop, they mounted a show, the results of which were so pleasing that even upon returning to his residence in Admiral, Novak planned the next visit.
Admission for the Coffeehouse Evening is $5, where a live musical performance will also be featured.
