Hi again from beautiful Downtown New Salem. I hope you’ve all had a great week. The weather has been finally given us a couple days of sun. It sure was nice to see it after all the rain we’ve had.

I don’t have much news this week, but there are a few notices.

I was asked to put this memorial in this week.

In loving memory of our dear sister and friend Anna Brown who passed away May 27, 2010. Remembering you is easy, As we do it every day, It’s just the part of losing you that never goes away, A prayer from those who love you, A memory fond and true, In our hearts you will live forever because we thought the world of you, It isn’t’’t what we write, it isn’t what we say, it’s how we feel deep inside as we think of you today. Your sisters Nada, Juanita and friend Ruby.

On Friday, June 3, the movie Toy Story 3 will be shown upstairs in the log building at 7 p.m. Feel free to bring a snack and a drink with you and the cost is free.

The next Spencer’s Island Bingo will be on Friday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at the Advocate Fire Hall.

The Advocate United Church Service this Sunday, June 5 is at 11 a.m. with guest speaker Greg Fenwick. Everyone is welcome!

The next community luncheon will be held on Tuesday, June 14 at noon. On the menu this month will be casseroles, pies, tea and coffee. Everyone is welcome.

On Wednesday, June 15 at 6 p.m. a lawyer will be coming to the log building to do a presentation and answer questions on wills, living wills, etc. This is being sponsored by Cumberland Public Libraries and is a free service. Please call 392-2214 to register.

On Thursday, June 16 there will be an open house at the Advocate library from 2-5 p.m. There will be cake and drinks. Come and see our new logo and what your library has to offer you.

Plans are in the making for another great Canada Day celebration at the log building on July 1. Stay tuned for more details to come!

The New Salem Union Church is going to need a new roof and other repairs this year, so they will be doing fundraising and will also accept donations at any time if given.

That’s it for this week. I hope you all have a great week and enjoy your family and friends.
