Medical appointment brings good report

Topics :
New Canaan , Halifax , Amherst

Linda and Alan Lake motored to Halifax on May 25 where Linda had a medical appointment. Linda was very pleased to get a good report following her treatments. While there they spent some time with their daughter, Tanya Spears, and family.

Most of my readers know I now live in Amherst and still do the items for New Canaan, but I would like to mention my birthday, which I celebrated on May 25. My son Lyle and his wife Betty; daughter Debby Chapman and her husband Neil; my granddaughter Kim and great-granddaughter Sammi-Jo joined me for pizza and birthday cake.

My nephew Skip Gilbert dropped in to see me also.

I would like to thank everyone for cards, gifts and all the phone calls. I had 16 calls wishing me well. Thanks Debby and Neil for the delicious cake, the milestone number on top reminds me of all the many years I have been the correspondent for The Citizen. Thanks to everyone who made my day one to remember.

My niece Linda Lake was telling me her and Alan’s only daughter, Tanya, and husband Mike Spears will celebrate 25 years of marriage on June 18. They were blessed with two daughters, Jennifer and Andrea, who would like to invite relatives and friends to attend a party in honour of their parents to help them celebrate their years together.

The party will be held at St. Margaret’s Centre, 12 Westwood Blvd. (7 p.m. to midnight). Actual date of marriage was June 20, 1986. This is also to celebrate Tanya’s speedy recovery from her bout with cancer. The home address is 61 Chalamont St., Hammonds Plains, N.S. B3Z 1H8. Best wishes only.

Brenda and Wyman Bowden, Fox River, visited with her sister, Alta Fife and husband Murray.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Betty Blenkhorn, who passed away on Friday, May 27. Sympathy also goes to the family of Chester Gallagher, who passed away recently. Both were residents of Southampton.
