May you all enjoy your holiday weekend. It has been a busy one.

On Friday night Ruby Kirkpatrick hosted a family gathering in the hall as her son Calvin Kirkpatrick and Marie Renouf, Fort McMurray, Alta., were home for a week and all wanted to visit with them. There were 36 attending and there was a lovely conversation to be sure.

Several members from Little River did not attend as another family gathering was held at the home of John and Gloria Black to welcome members of the late Eileen Nauss’s family home for the day.

Micheal Hunsley, Ottawa, is visiting his parents, Hubert and Helen Hunsley this week. He is home to attend his sister’s Melanie’s wedding to be held this weekend. We hope for warmer weather too, as she plans to be married outdoors at her home in Brookdale.

On Sunday the newest member of the Warwick clan was christened in the United Church, Oxford, Brandon John David, six-month-old son of Deiter and Krista Warwick. Following church service family members gathered at their home in Oxford for dinner and a time of rejoicing. Family pictures were taken later.

Congratulations to Marika Marion Marko who attend ballet class competition in Wolfville on Mothers’ Day and received two first place trophies and two first place ribbons. Her class now goes to nationals in Niagara Falls, Ont. and we wish them well. Good work Marika. I am sure your father is proud of you.

Mary Ellen Lusby visited with her mother Elda Lowther and Vivian and John Warwick on Friday evening.

Vivian Warwick, Sheila Thompson, Jean Mitchell and Carol Matheson were members of the combined Little River/Oxford choir who attended practice for the upcoming anniversary service in Little River Baptist Church to be held on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. They also attended Bible study at the Oxford church following practice on Thursday evening.

A musical evening is planned for the Leicester Community Hall for June 4.

The Kirkpatrick family visited Elvie Lowther on Saturday afternoon. Calvin Kirkpatrick and Marie Renouf returned home to Fort McMurray on Sunday.

Get well wishes got out to Judy Shultz and all others not feeling up to par. Remember Elsie Read who remains in Springhill for therapy.

On Wednesday, Joyce Carsadden and grandchildren Chandler and Katem visited Olive Jackson.

A Sunday afternoon visitor with Olive Jackson was Gwen Briand, Amherst.

On Monday Sylvia Oulton, Northport, visited with her mother, Olive Jackson.

A supper is planned for June 10 in the Little River Baptist church vestry. Call Edith Hunsley 447-2406 for more information.

On Saturday, May 14 Lillian Carter accompanied her sister and husband Betty and Ronald Harroun, Kolbec to their daughter and husband Bonnie and Harold Gibbons’ home, Wentworth. They had invited family and friends to help her father Ronald celebrate his 90th birthday. Lots of food and fellowship was enjoyed.
