Hi again everyone from the outer edges of Advocate Harbour with the beautiful view of the harbour and Bay of Fundy. There hasn’t been much happening the past couple of weeks. I guess with all these storms we’ve been getting everyone is staying inside. I would like to say a big thank you to the snow plow drivers that do an awesome job keeping our roads open for us day and night.
The Advocate and District Fire Department Valentine’s Tea was a great success. They wish to thank everyone who helped, donated and to the community for their great support. The tea raised $527.
Sue Ann Clarke was the lucky winner of the beautiful quilt that was generously donated by Irene Morris and the blanket box that was anonymously donated and just over $500 was raised from the sale of tickets for those. Again thank you so much to our fabulous community for their continued support.
On Friday, March 4 I will be showing the classic movie Bell, Book & Candle upstairs at the log building at 7 p.m. Feel free to bring a drink and a snack if you like and the cost is free! Gillian Holroyd is just your average, modern-day, witch, living in a New York apartment.
But one day a handsome publisher walks into her building and Gillian decides she wants him. So, Gillian casts a spell. But her powers are in danger of being exorcised by something stronger than the bell-book-and-candle routine: Love. Sounds good now doesn’t it?
On Tuesday, March 8 the community luncheon will be held at the log building at noon. This month’s menu is casseroles, biscuits, dessert, tea and coffee. Everyone is welcome!
The next Spencer’s Island Bingo will be on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Advocate Fire Hall.
The Advocate Fire Department will be hosting its second annual winter carnival at the Advocate Fire Hall on Saturday, March 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will be doing the flea market/yard sale again and if you wish to book a table call me at 392-2053 or 392-2214.
During the flea market there will be games for adults and children, canteen facilities and a cake walk at 1 p.m. At 7 p.m that evening there will be musical entertainment at the fire hall also.
During March Break I will be doing crafts with the children three to 12 on Wednesday, March 16 at 2 p.m. and I will also be showing the Disney movie Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue on Friday, March 18 at 2 p.m. Both of these events are free and at the Advocate library.
The New Salem Union Church is going to need a new roof and other repairs next year, so in the spring they will be doing fundraising and will also accept donations at any time if given.
Well, that’s it for this week. I hope you all have a great week and enjoy your family and friends!
