Happy Neighbors hold Valentine party

Where has the sun gone? We are having another day of snow. We will soon have nicer days, but then what will we complain about?

The snow has sure taken its toll on the buildings. Several folks in this area have experienced snow on the roof and had damage done to them. Everyone is kept busy shoveling snow off the roof, lately.

Burton Doucette was a Monday evening visitor with John and Vivian Warwick.

Vivian Warwick and Elda Lowther were among the many friends attending the Pythian funeral for the late Opal Black on Thursday. The largely attended funeral was held from the Nazarene Church, Oxford, on Friday.

Two more funerals were to be held on Monday, one for the late Orpha Casey, and the other for late Vera Mayne. The Pythian funeral for Vera Mayne was held at Allen's funeral home on Sunday evening. Another funeral will be held on Tuesday for late Rowena (Tizzard) McPhail from MacDiarmid funeral home.

Sincere condolences to all families and prayers continue for all sick and shut-ins at this time. Remember prayers for Walter Bickford and Marilyn MacIntosh-Mitchell as she goes to Halifax for treatments.

Church was cancelled in Little River on Sunday due to a snowstorm.

Basketball tournaments were held this past weekend so a lot of girls and boys were busy. Vivian Warwick attended one game in Brookdale on Saturday. Her granddaughters were playing. The game in Amherst on Sunday went ahead and Bethany Warwick's team won bronze, which was exciting. The other games were canceled due to Wallace and Pugwash teams not traveling on icy roads. These games will be played later.

Sylvie Baker, Northport, and Joyce Carsadden, Amherst, were Friday visitors with their mother. Olive Jackson.

The Happy Neighbors Club enjoyed a Valentine Party at the home of Ruby Kirkpatrick on Wednesday. There were eight members attending.

Arden Kirkpatrick and Joanne Gaudet, Dieppe, N.B., were Sunday visitors with his parents, Douglas and Ruby Kirkpatrick.

Thought: A grudge is one thing that doesn't get better when it's nursed.
