The next Spencer's Island Bingo will be on Friday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Advocate Fire Hall.
On Saturday, Feb. 12 a Valentine's Tea will be held at the Advocate Fire Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free will offering.
On Saturday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, March 20 the United Church service will be held at Chignecto Manor at 9 a.m.
On Thursday, Feb. 24 I will be doing crafts and stories at the library from 3-4 p.m. Please call me at 392-2214 to register and the cost is free!
On Friday, March 4 I will be showing the classic movie Bell, Book & Candle upstairs at the log building at 7 p.m. Feel free to bring a drink and a snack if you like and the cost is free! Gillian Holroyd is just your average, modern-day, witch, living in a New York apartment. But one day a handsome publisher walks into her building and Gillian decides she wants him. So, Gillian casts a spell. But her powers are in danger of being exorcised by something stronger than the bell-book-and-candle routine: Love. Sounds good now, doesn't it?
The Advocate Fire Department is selling tickets on a beautiful homemade quilt generously donated by Irene Morris and a beautiful quilt box. Both can be viewed at the Advocate Country Store. Tickets can be bought from any of the fire department members or at the Advocate Country Store. The draw will take place on Valentines Day, Feb. 14.
The Advocate Fire Department will be hosting its second annual winter carnival at the Advocate Fire Hall on Saturday, March 12. We will be doing the flea market/yard sale again, and if you wish to book a table, call me at 392- 2053 or 392-2214.
The Saturday morning Coffee House is now open Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at the Old Murphy's Store. Stop in for a coffee or tea and chat with some old and new friends.
The New Salem Union Church is going to need a new roof and other repairs next year, so in the spring they will be doing fundraising and will also accept donations at any time if given.
