Rise N' Shine Book Club

The Rise N' Shine Book Club meets the 4th Thursday of every month from 9 - 10 a.m.

at the Four Fathers Memorial Library in Amherst.  For more information or to register please call 667-2549.  January's book will be "Debt-free Forever" by Gail Vaz-Oxlade.

Meeting

 The Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St.,will hold its Annual General meeting and Election Meeting starting at 7 p.m.  All members welcome.  To become a club member call 667-1058.

Family Literacy Day

Family Literacy Day events will be held at the Springhill Library. We will be playing some board games for a fun filled hour from 3-4 p.m. Try your hand at checkers, chess, monopoly, clue and other games!

Auction 45's

 An Auction 45's Game will be held at the Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St. starting at 7:30 pm.  Everyone welcome, no partner required. Light lunch supplied.  Call 667-9311 for more info.

Barbecue social

The R.C.A.F. Association,105 Cumberland Wing ,Havelock St. is having a barbecue social starting at 5 P.M. Eat, play crib or darts or just sit and relax. Inquiries 667-9262.

Superhero Saturday

Bring the kids and join the Maggie's Place staff at Spring Street Academy from 10am-Noon, call 667-7250 for information.

Open Mic

Open Mic Night at the Parrsboro Bandhall. This is the winter home of the Diligent River Jam night. Donations at door. Starts at 7 pm. Door prize.

Musical Evening

 The Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St. will hold a Musical Evening, starting at 8 pm, with a light lunch at 11pm.  Everyone 50 and over, welcome.  Call 667-1058 for more info.

Breakfast

The Amherst Masonic Society will host a breakfast at the Masonic Temple, 20 Lawrence Street, from 8 to 11 a.m. All welcome.

Bottledrive

Atom A Toyota Ramblers Bottle drive - players will be out collecting bottles as a fundraiser for their team.

First Aid training

A Red Cross Standard First Aid training session will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dr. Carson & Marion Murray Community Centre. For information contact 763-3000.

The Amherst Masonic Society Breakfast will be held at the Masonic Temple, 20 Lawrence St. from 8 to 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

Evening of Art

Autumn House will be hosting an Evening of Art at ARHS with a live auction and draws for pieces of local artwork. Tickets are available at the door, or by calling 667-1344. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Cribbage

A cribbage tournament will be held at the Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St.,at 1:30 p.m.  Registration at 1 p.m.  Please bring a partner.

Kids movie

Alvin and the Chipmunks - The Squeakquel will be shown at the Parrsboro Band Hall at 3:15 p.m. Admission charged at the door.

Roast beef dinner

The R.C.A.F.Association ,105 Cumberland Wing ,Havelock St. is having a Roast Beef Dinner from 4 to 6 P.M. Eat in or take out. Deliveries inside Town. Call 667-9262.

Concert

The Bethany Bible College Chorale will perform at 6:30 p.m. at the Amherst Wesleyan Church.

Classic Movie Night

The Amherst library will be showing the 1934 romantic comedy, "It Happened One Night" starring Clark Gable at 7 p.m. No admission charge - donations cheerfully accepted.

Relay For Life kickoff day for Cumberland County  - Wear your Relay t-shirt in any color from any year, let's paint the county in the Relay colors.

Landscape painting

A Landscape Painting Class from 6-8 pm at the Four Fathers Library in Amherst.  Supplies and instruction provided to complete one landscape painting. Registration required by Feb. 5th. Ages 18 and up. Program is free but donations are cheerfully accepted!

Curling fundraiser

A curling fun night in memory of Tim LeFurgey will be held at the Amherst Curling Club. Call Terri  Lewis  at 669-1585 to register.  All proceeds go to the Palliative Care Program at CRHCC.

Sweetdarts

The Sweetheart Valentine's Day Doubles Dart Tournament will take place at 1 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br.#17, Springhill. Bring your valentine for a day of fun!

Free Coaching

The Cobequid Fun-Tones are hosting free singing lessons by a Certified Instructor beginning at 10:00 a.m. OPH hall on Ellis Street, Oxford. Bring your lunch.  All ages invited. Let's SING.
