United church to host annual Fall Fair

Hi again from the outer edges of Advocate and I hope you’ve all had a great two weeks. I am at my daughter’s and so I’ll write the news from here for a bit.

Last week Ina Spicer and I went to the casserole supper that was held in Diligent River. Congratulations to you ladies for putting on a beautiful supper. Donnie and Sherry Fletcher, Francis Rafuse and Connie Ells also attended this supper from down here.

Deannie and Steve Yaniki have returned to their home in Ontario after spending the summer here.

Joyce Nuttall is visiting her daughter, Michelle McSherry, in Oshawa, Ont.

My brother, Randy Davis, and his wife, Wendy, of Dundurn, Sask., arrived here on Tuesday to spend a couple of weeks.

Ina and Doug Spicer went to Cambridge in the valley last week to visit with Dave and Berla Orr for a few days.

Alt Fletcher of Truro is visiting at his home here for a few days this week.

Brenday MacDonald of Vancouver, B.C., has returned to her home after spending the summer at her home here.

On Friday, Oct. 1, I will be showing the movie Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs at the log building at 7 p.m. The cost is free and you can bring a snack and a drink with you.

The next Spencer’s Island Bingo will be held on Friday, Oct. 8 at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Oct. 9 the Advocate United Church will be hosting the annual Fall Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a bake table, books, crafts, and a flea market. Luncheon will be seafood chowder and blueberry dessert. Come and share our beautiful Parrsboro Shore drive.

On Saturday, Oct. 9, Chignecto Manor will holding a yard sale starting at 10 a.m.

The next community luncheon will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at noon at the log building. On the menu this month will be homemade Italian vegetable soup, homemade tomato soup, homemade cream of mushroom soup, sandwiches, dessert, tea and coffee. Everyone is welcome!

On Friday, Oct. 15, the Cart Program will be back at the Advocate library for children ages three to five from 10-11:30 a.m. Please call 392-2214 to register.

On Saturday, Oct. 16, a fall fair will be held at the Advocate school from 10 a.m. to noon.

On Sunday, Oct. 17, Terry Gillespie will be performing at the log building from 5-7 p.m. The cost is $15 per person and will include your supper and dessert.

Pizza Night will be held on Friday, Oct. 29 from the Advocate school. To pre-order, please call 392-2607.

Badminton is back for the winter season on Monday and Thursday evenings at the Advocate school at 7 p.m.
