Rise N’ Shine Book Club
The Rise N’ Shine Book Club meets on the 4th Thursday of every month from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Four Fathers Memorial Library in Amherst. For more information or to register please call 667-2549. In September we will be discussing “The Things that Keep Us Here” by Carla Buckley.
Soup kitchen
The Salvation Army B.E.A.C.O.N. Café will be serving soup and sandwiches at The Salvation Army Thrift Store (basement) from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations are welcome but not expected. All are welcome.
Movie
The Springhill Miners Memorial Library is showing the after school movie Space Buddies from 3-4:30 p.m. for children ages 5-12 years. No cost and snacks provided. Please call the library at 597-2211 to register.

Auction 45’s
An Auction 45’s Game will be held at the Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St. starting at 7:30 pm. Everyone welcome, no partner required. Light lunch supplied. Call 667-9311 for more info.
Social
The R.C.A.F. Assoc. 105 Cumb. Wing, Havelock St. is having a social starting at 5 p.m. Come enjoy beef or chicken pies with tossed salad or corn chowder and rolls. Play darts, crib or just relax. Inquiries 667-9262.

Food Drive
The Cumberland Y Service Club and Y’s Menettes will host a food drive from 10 a.m. until noon. If you are not at home leave your food donation on your front step.
Lynda Burke Memorial Bursary Walk
Registration at 10, followed by the walk at 10:30 a.m. from the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre to Gables Lodge. Reception following the walk. Pledge sheets available.
Musical Evening
The Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St. will hold a Musical Evening, Dance from 8-11 p.m. Lunch served. Everyone 50 and over, welcome. Call 667-1058 for more info.

A turkey supper will be held at Fenwick United Church from 4 to 6 p.m.
Rummage Sale
Centennial Villa residents will be hosting a Rummage Sale from 1-3 p.m. at 258 Church St. Proceeds will be split between local charities and seniors activities.
Musical evening
An open mic musical evening will be held at 7 p.m. at the Dilligent River Hall.
Breakfast
The Amherst Masonic Society will host breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Masonic Temple, 20 Lawrence St.
(Across from Co-Op).

Cribbage
A cribbage tournament will be held at the Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St.,at 1:30 p.m. Registration at 1 p.m. Please bring a partner.
Roast beef supper
The R.C.A.F. Association,105 Cumberland Wing, Havelock St. is hosting a roast beef supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Eat in or take out. Delivery inside town. Call 667-9262.
Cribbage
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #45 in Parrsboro will be holding a cribbage tournament. Registration at 12:45. Canteen will be available with hamburgers, hotdogs and turkey burgers with gravy.
