Scouting Registration

4th Amherst Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will host a registation and information session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Amherst Centre Mall.

Sept. 17

Auction 45’s

An auction 45’s game will be held at the Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St. starting at 7:30 p.m. Everyone welcome, no partner required. Light lunch supplied. Call 667-9311 for more info.

Evening of Music

Leicester Community Hall will host an evening of music from 7 to 10 p.m. Donations at the door, all proceeds going to Community Hall. Bake Auction to be held.

Golf fundraiser

The Fourth Annual Morgan Porter Golf Tournament begins at 1 p.m. at the Amherst Golf Club. Texas scramble best ball. Lots of prizes, barbecue. Register before Sept. 15. ATV Poker Rally

Registration for a fundraising poker rally begins at 10 a.m. at Keith and June Blenkhorn’s Camp in Williamsdale, N.S. Proceeds for the Oxford Tim Horton’s Jr. Colts hockey team. Call 667-0889 for information.

Musical evening

A musical evening will be held from 8 to 11:15 p.m. at the Sunrise Seniors Hall in Lower Shinimicas.

Garden tour

The Inaugural River Hebert Garden Tour will be held from 1–4 p.m. Participating garden locations: 3941 Barronsfield Rd. N.; 3858 Boars Back Road; 1538 Barronsfield Rd. S.; 1376 Barronsfield Rd. S.; One free pumpkin for each child on the tour. (While quantities last. One per family).

Holy Family CWL will host a homemade baked beans wieners and brown bread supper with blueberry crisp from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Holy Family Parish Hall. Take out available.

Candlelight Vigil

MADD Bordertown will host a memorial candlelight service at 7 p.m., at the Amherst Baptist Church. The event is open to the public.

Casserole Supper

@Calendar - Description:<t-2>A casserole supper will be held at the Diligent River Community Hall from 4-6 p.m.

Assorted casseroles, baked beans, salad, lasagne, coleslaw, rolls, pies and desserts, tea and coffee.


A fundraiser is being held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Southampton Community Centre for Rhonda Bradbury, so she can get the new MS Liberation treatment. There will be Bluegrass and Country music, performers are

Whitney Rose, Shawn Clarke, Peter Ripley, Jacob Crandall, Ted Canning and Boys. Tea, coffee, sandwiches and sweets. There will also be a live auction. Donation

at the door. Tickets on an afghan. Doors open at 6 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m.

AIDS Walk for Life

The Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life will begin at the Cumberland YMCA with registration at 11 a.m. Walk begins at 12 p.m. For more information, call (902) 895-0931.


Pancake brunch at Malagash Community Hall 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., pancakes from scratch, sausages, eggs, homemade beans, toast & juice. Proceeds for Legion Branch 97 Malagash.

Battle of Britain

R.C.A.F. Association,105 Cumberland Wing Commemorates “The Battle of Britain”. ( 70th Anniv.) Interested parties meet at the Wing - 11:30. Lunch and entertainment following the service at the cenotaph.
