Antique hat collection viewed at museum

I was pleased to have a visit from B.C. Danny and Ruth (Burrell) Brown, who is my cousin, also Dale Brown, Windham. She is a sister to Danny. They will stay with her, and also visit other relatives and friends around Wentworth.

Just about everyone knows Bill Gilroy, 97, sold his home on Church Street recently and now resides at Centennial Villa. Recently he received the sad news of his daughter Connie's son, Bill O'Rourke, being badly injured in a motorcycle accident out west.

Graduates from Amherst High were Donald Gillis, two Leggett sisters Tina and Stephanie, daughters of Teena, a CCA here, and Rob, son of Angie Gregan here, an R.N.

Don Gillis and Spencer Moreau, son of Marnie Moreau, had a great time in Boston with his dad playing baseball.

Condolences to family and friends on the loss of Rosemary Mullins, former mayor of Springhill, and also to the father of David McInnis.

Natasha Dupuis, CCA, celebrated her birthday on July 2.

Jill Blaikie is on vacation, but much went on in recreation, with Jeremy filling in.

Springhill lost three fine citizens - Gwen Mason, Mary Guthro and Doug Carter, who was a long-time friend of mine. Condolences to Betty, son, daughter and grandchildren, nephew Harold Carter, two nieces Doris McNull (Hilton), Marjorie Cotter (James).

On Aug. 25 Bella Tower will celebrate her 90th birthday with 15 children, five sons coming from out west, eight daughters and two sons here in Amherst, and grandchlildren and great-grandchildren at the Wanndlyn.

On July 1 at Gables we enjoyed music from Harold Miller. We took a stroll down to see the antique hat collection at the Cumberland County Museum on July 9, and on July 12 we went to Jungle Jim's for lunch. On July 14 we were planning to have a campfire at Gables at 6 p.m.

Our recreation department has trips and events planned all summer so we will try to keep you updated.
