Cumberland County -
Bridge project imminent
NORTHPORT - The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is moving closer to replacing the Northport bridge.
Crews from the department are in the process of moving barricades into place at both ends of the bridge for when construction begins.
"Right now we are planning the detour route for when the bridge is closed and we'll issue a traffic advisory before we close the bridge," department spokesperson Patricia Jreige said in an email on Tuesday.
The bridge was slated to close to traffic on April 1, at 10 a.m., until further notice.

URB dismisses application to amend village boundaries
PUGWASH - Robert O'Connell can't disagree with the outcome of a recent Utility and Review Board hearing to change the boundaries of the Village of Pugwash.
O'Connell, one of the four applicants to have the boundaries changed, said the URB did a thorough analysis with the evidence that he and other applicants Earl Chase, Kevin Polley and Eldon Mundle presented.
The applicants wanted to have the boundaries to the Village of Pugwash changed because they pay taxes for services through the Village of Pugwash, as well as taxes for services through the municipality.
