AMHERST - If your kid's calendar has the first Saturday of each month marked off with a big fat X, it can mean only one thing.
Your kids love the Cumberland YMCA Family Night.
"For a lot of kids in the program, coming to Family Night is something they look forward to every month," Cumberland YMCA fundraising co-ordinator Kurt Fawthrop said. "It's a great opportunity for families to get together and bond. It's a chance just to be there for two hours and have fun in the gym and in the pool."
More kids can now mark that day on their calendar thanks to a $5,000 sponsorship from Waldale Manufacturing of Amherst.
"We wanted to do something for the kids in the community," Waldale President Todd Lawrence said. "We thought a YMCA program would be a great program to sponsor and to direct the funds toward the Family Night program."
Interm CEO for the Cumberland YMCA, Divya Minocha couldn't be happier.
"It's a great program and I'm really pleased Waldale is partners with us in this initiative," Minocha said. "We hope other manufacturers and company's within Amherst and Cumberland will help us with programs."
During Family Night the YMCA is closed to the general public so families participating in the program can have access to all the YMCA's facilities.
The program often has 100 people in attendance.
