Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and Nissan North America recently announced a partnership in support of Nissan's LEAF electric vehicle, and also Nissan's healthy lifestyle program called "Innovations for Endurance." Reynolds, who stars in the superhero film The Green Lantern, owns a Nissan LEAF and is considered an environmental activist. So, the partnership between the green actor/superhero and the green car should make for one dynamic duo.

"I believe it's possible to take great leaps forward without sacrificing a way of life. For me electric vehicles, like the Nissan Leaf, are not only representative of taking back the power, but also a significant statement about conscious ways of living," explained Reynolds.

Apart from his support of the Nissan LEAF, Ryan Reynolds will be involved in videos, digital features and print features for the "Innovation for Endurance" Facebook page. Reynolds will join like-minded program Innovators such as Olympian Ryan Hall, yoga practitioner Tara Stiles, and three-time Tour of California champion Levi Leipheimer.

"We're ecstatic to have Ryan Reynolds join us as the newest face in the 'Innovation for Endurance' program," said Brian Carolin, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America Inc. "He believes in the Nissan LEAF and knows the important impact it will have on the environment and as an active individual, 'Innovation for Endurance' made sense as a program that supports initiatives Ryan already participates in."

Recently named the "2011 World car of the Year," the Nissan LEAF has become even more popular through Nissan's partnership with celebrities like Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Hall, Tara Stiles and Levi Leipheimer. Though driving range issues and restart problems have hampered the image of the LEAF, the electric vehicle still occupies a relatively niche segment of the automotive industry. Increased popularity and advances in technology will help electric cars become more widely accepted by consumers. In time an electric car like the LEAF will be just that: a Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable Family car.
