The annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas is well-known for showcasing heavily modified vehicles from manufacturers all over the
world as well as many different performance and customization parts and accessories. This year, Chevrolet is displaying a number of tricked-out Sonics and Cruzes which the American automaker says will show off the "personalization possibilities for a new generation of performance enthusiasts."
Chevrolet's creations will feature Z-Spec styling modifications which are being actively assessed for possible production. The Z-Spec line features styling, performance and personalization accessories which are available through Chevrolet dealerships.
Chevrolet Sonics to be featured at this year's SEMA Show include the Sonic Z-Spec #1, Sonic Z-Spec #2, Sonic Z-Spec 4D Concept and Sonic Dusk. The Sonic Z-Spec #1 features a ground effects body kit and spoiler as well as a graphics package and new grille. The Z-Spec #1 is finished in Torch Red and comes shod with 18-inch wheels with four-piston brake calipers. The interior features perforated suede inserts for the seats, Z-Spec sport pedals, a sport shift knob and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The Z-Spec #1 also has performance suspension parts, and around the back there's a high-flow exhaust system.
Sonic Z-Spec #2 is Flat White with Torch Red accents. As the name implies, the Z-Spec #2 includes a bit more than the Z-Spec #1. There's a more aggressive ground effects body kit, concept Z-Spec 18-inch wheels, and custom racing seats. Other than that, the Z-Spec #2 includes many of the same interior and exterior accessories as the Z-Spec #1.
Chevy's Sonic Z-Spec 4D Concept features a sedan body finished in Ashen Grey Metallic. It also comes equipped with a Z-Spec ground effects package with spoiler and grille. There's also a "Chevrolet" graphics theme and many of the same exterior and interior features as the Z-Spec hatchback counterparts.
The Sonic Dusk is finished in Berlin Blue with less flamboyant exterior styling. It has 18-inch wheels finished in Galvano Silver and the lights are tinted blue for a more sophisticated statement according to Chevrolet. The interior is adorned in Mojave leather and features a flat-bottom steering wheel with suede trim and custom audio system.
Although there are already four Sonic models confirmed for the SEMA Show, Chevrolet says there are other super-secret Sonics that will debut as well. Each represents a higher level of personalization and performance. There are also Cruze Z-Spec and Cruze Dark models that feature the same sort of interior and exterior styling as their Sonic counterparts.
"The heritage of Chevrolet cars like the Corvette and Camaro is being expressed in smaller packages for the next generation," said Chris Perry, vice president, global marketing and strategy for Chevrolet. "The Sonic and Cruze concepts demonstrate that performance comes in all shapes, sizes and displacements at Chevrolet."
The SEMA Show runs from November 1 to November 4 this year.
