Just days ago, Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S had announced and end to its astounding Veyron coupe after a total limited production of just 300 cars. Fortunately, the convertible version of the Veyron is still available and the French automaker has now announced a special edition of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport that it calls the L'Or Blanc.

In a partnership with Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM), Bugatti has outfitted the new L'Or Blanc with porcelain surfaces for both the exterior and the interior of the car.

"The impulse for that partnership came from Rembrandt Bugatti's renowned elephant," said Jörg Woltmann, owner of the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM). "At the beginning, we wanted to integrate the sculpture in our product range, then we thought about the potential for a comprehensive service and finally the synthesis of ideas led us to this outstanding Grand Sport."

The unique L'Or Blanc is based upon the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport convertible and is essentially the same car with new porcelain surfaces. The Grand Sport supercar features a massive 8.0-litre, 16-cylinder engine that produces 1001 metric horsepower. The L'Or Blanc is valued at 1.65 million Euros, the equivalent of $2,310,825 Canadian dollars.

"At first, it seems to be an unusual idea to use porcelain in a car, especially in the world's fastest convertible," said Dr. Stefan Brungs, Director of Sales and Marketing at Bugatti Automobiles. "But this is what Bugatti stands for: the realization of exceptional ideas whilst striving for the utmost in quality and aesthetics. This allows us to continue Ettore Bugatti's heritage, who himself loved to experiment with new materials."

So, for anyone who's wanted a Bugatti Veyron with porcelain accents, your car is ready. Still, the Veyron L'Or Blanc's rounded shape and porcelain surfaces might make owners feel like they're driving around in a really, really fast bathtub on wheels. Don't forget your rubber ducky.
