Okay Bimmer, Benz and Lexus fans. I've got a challenge for you: visit your local Audi dealer, test drive the 2011 Audi A8, and then write me to tell me you don't love this super luxury sedan from Germany.

My money is on "zero" replies to this offer! I'm confident with this, as in my humble opinion the A8 represents the "best buy" in the luxury sedan segment.

With a base price of $99,200, the A8 comes fully luxe contented with heated and cooled seats, xenon headlights, premium wood, leather and metal interior accents, advanced telematics with fingertip control input pad, a powerful base stereo system and much, much more. Step up to the megawatt Bang & Olufsen premium audio system if the base system is not to your liking, and marvel at aluminum tweeters that rise from the upper dash when the system is switched on.

The 2011 model is all new, and represents an evolutionary upgrade to the already superb 2010 model. Up front, you'll still see the wide-mouth Audi grille, updated with horizontal chrome slats, flanked by the aforementioned xenon headlights and slick LED Daytime Running Lights. Along the side, a high beltline and 19" wheels enhance the total overall look of precision and power, and makes a statement that luxury cars can, and should, purvey a look of excellence. At the rear, LED taillights activate quicker than standard bulbs and use 50-percent less power. This is a large, gorgeous automobile!

On-the-road inputs are handled by Audi's Adaptive Air Suspension, which continuously monitors road conditions to provide a smooth ride that tightens when you want to put the 2,000-kilo A8 through its paces. Those in the know will notice that two tonnes is light for vehicles in this class. This is due to the A8's aluminum spaceframe construction, which is stronger and lighter than traditional steel cage construction. A BMW 7 Series in comparison weighs in at just under 2,300 kilos. Oh yah, this weight savings contributes to a super impressive 8.7 L/100km EPA equivalent highway rating! Canadian estimates are 8.1 city, as well as 12.9 highway.

The A8's 4.2-litre V8 provides powerful acceleration that belies this car's size. Again, extensive lightweighting means less mass to motivate when you need to move out in a hurry.

The 2011 Audi A8, available in short and long wheelbase models, is an amazing luxury automobile. Take the challenge!
