AMHERST - A local business leading the way in high quality flexible packaging products has retained its status as one of Canada's 50 best-managed companies.

PolyCello was a winner of the award in 2008 and has kept the designation for the first of two additional years.
This award recognizes Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways.
"Pursuing new product options to meet our clients' fast-growing demands is keeping us on the leading edge of flexible packaging and opening up new opportunities for growth in the years ahead," said Stephen Emmerson, president and CEO of PolyCello.
PolyCello's packaging can be found in almost every household in North America, showcasing and preserving frozen food, paper products, pet food and lawn and garden products.
In recent years, the company has focused on developing more environmentally conscious products, including compostable and biodegradable packaging.
"The re-qualification of our best-managed award reaffirms the excellence in craftsmanship and customer service our employees provide our customers. I am proud of the care the employees of PolyCello put into their work every day," said Emmerson.
John Hughes of the Partner, Private Company Services group with national sponsor Deloitte sent out his congratulations to the business and its entire workforce.
"Achieving Canada's highest level of Canadian business excellence takes a united effort and we are privileged to acknowledge such a strong team," said Hughes.
This year's winners of the award, along with the re-qualified and Platinum Club (maintaining the status for a minimum of six consecutive years), will be honoured at an annual gala next month in Toronto.
