CAVENDISH, P.E.I. - There will be no liquor store in Cavendish, P.E.I.
Tourism and Culture Minister Robert Vessey says it's not a priority given the recession and the cost of construction.
Local business owners have long complained that there needs to be a liquor outlet in the north shore community, a destination for hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
The nearest liquor store is about seven kilometres away in North Rustico.
Mel Gas, who operates the Silverwood Motel in Cavendish, says it's embarrassing having to tell visitors that there's no local liquor outlet.
