AMHERST - Anyone flying with Air Canada during the month of February might see a familiar face on an in-flight commercial promoting the province.

Lindsay Blenkhorn, an Amherst native currently working in Halifax, was filmed over the summer for the Nova Scotia Come to life campaign.

"They do vignettes of different people all over the province and had come to HB Studios looking for somebody," said Blenkhorn, a producer with HB Studios.

"The commercial is me talking about life in Nova Scotia and about the work-life balance. They combined how I was producing a soccer video game and that I played on a soccer team in Halifax. They came out and showed both angles of life in Nova Scotia - a leading edge company with a quality lifestyle."

Blenkhorn's commercial will be shown during flights the month of February with Air Canada, and is also being shown in theatres in Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary until Jan. 8.

Other commercials would be shown in-flight and theatres, while others had been aired on ABC during the annual tree lighting ceremony in Boston.

"It was exciting and I was happy to do it," said Blenkhorn, adding she didn't know where people would see her.

"I had seen some of them on TV before, so I wasn't really sure if it was going to be mine or if it would just be on the (Come to life) website."

The goal of the campaign is to grow the province's economy by changing people's perceptions.

By telling the stories of Nova Scotians, the province is hoping to attract future investment, businesses, immigrants, students and visitors.
