AMHERST - Don't tell officials at TeleTech there is a global recession.

The company is growing despite worldwide economic troubles, announcing plans Wednesday to hire about 120 customer service representatives at its Amherst operation.
"We are having a bit of a seasonal push between now and the end of the year. We have some expected increases in volume coming at us early next year, so we have to get ready for it," Amherst service delivery director David Benjamin said. "That means adding employees."
There are about 200 full- and part-time employees working at the customer service centre, located in the Amherst Town Square Mall on South Albion Street.
Finding enough employees has long been a challenge for the company. Earlier this year, TeleTech was looking for up to 200 more employees and it has been aggressively advertising positions through the media and online at www.hirepoint.com.
"In this area there seems to be quite a movement by employees among various employers. It's evident in the retail and fast food sector and even in the light industrial sector," he said. "There's a lot of movement here."
Benjamin said there are many advantages to working at TeleTech, pointing out there is plenty of flexibility in available hours. While it originally focused on full-time employees, he said, the company is now looking for part-timers as well. He said there are a number of university students from Mount Allison working there, along with a number of people looking to supplement their incomes.
People interested in applying are welcome to go directly to TeleTech or apply online at www.hirepoint. com.
