TRURO - A Truro home is being rezoned to allow Wilson Fuel Company to utilize it as office space.
Town council approved the development application on Monday that will see a two-storey dwelling at 102 Pleasant St. rezoned from multi-unit dwelling to the general commercial zone.
"The purpose of this application is to permit Wilsons to convert an existing dwelling at 102 Pleasant St. into office space," director of planning Jason Fox wrote in his report to council.
"Wilson's existing offices across the street ... are too small and the company is interested in re-developing the existing dwelling at 102 Pleasant St. into office space and relocating some of their workers to this location."
The proposal will see the main floor of the home converted to office space.
The town sent questionnaires to 197 people living within 750 feet of the property. Of the 45 responses, 40 (88.9 per cent) were in favour, two (4.4 per cent) were opposed while three (6.7 per cent) had no opinion.
The planning department approved the application. There is a 14-day appeal process period from the time the decision is advertised in the local paper.
