AMHERST – Amherst Insurance has been sold. The brokerage has been purchased by Johnson Inc., based out of St. John’s, NL. But according to a written statement from Rick VanSnick, former owner and president, the sale will not affect staffing or the business’s location.

“We want to assure our customers that their existing policies will remain in force with the current insurance provider,” said VanSnick, now a VP in charge of the Amherst Insurance division of Johnson.

“We are committed to…maintaining our presence and serving our customers locally,” he said.

The VP said the arrangement will provide new and existing customers access to “industry-leading product options” but “they will continue to be served by the same experienced employees in Amherst.”

I have been dealing with Amherst Insurance since moving to this area and have found and still find the service second to none. They have great and dependable staff employed in their Amherst office.

My son, wife and myself have been dealing with Amherst Insurance for a number of years. My agent has always been Mike Miller and the service has been second to none, a great guy that always puts his clients first. Hope to keep dealing with Mike
