AMHERST – For years Travis Saulnier had dreamed of opening up his own car wash and oil change station. So when he was driving along Victoria street in downtown Amherst one day and saw two bay doors available for purchase, it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

“I asked my friend Tony to jump in and help and see what we could do to bring new business to Amherst,” Saulnier said.

“It was local. It was available. It looked like an opportunity to grab it right away. It was right downtown so I really couldn’t pass up the opportunity.”

Downtown Wash and Lube has been open for about two and a half weeks now, and although things are a little slow, Saulnier is ambitious.

“We’ll be here for quite a while. We’ll help the Amherst downtown. My ambitions are also to help out the local sports in the area and donate quite a bit to them. I’m a coach for a few teams already and I’m looking at getting into the Lions Club.”

Downtown wash and lube offers first come, first serve service and offers oil changes, car washes, and checks on light and tire pressure.
