TORONTO - Film star Harrison Ford isn't taking sides in the ongoing late-night saga at NBC, but he says soon-to-be-former "Tonight Show" host Conan O'Brien is getting a raw deal.
"He's getting the shaft in a way," Ford told The Canadian Press on Thursday during a promotional stop in Toronto for his new drama, "Extraordinary Measures."
Ford says he and O'Brien aren't friends and have only met a couple times - most recently because their kids go to the same California school.
"I mean, poor guy moved out to Los Angeles to do this show and moved his whole family out there. Put his kids in a new school," Ford said.
While they aren't close, Ford has been a memorable guest on O'Brien's old program, "Late Night."
The otherwise friendly star mocked his own image in interviews with O'Brien, during which he acted surly and dismissive.
When O'Brien asked if he kept any memorabilia from the "Indiana Jones" films, for instance, Ford responded: "I don't want all that crap around my house . . . I'm a very rich man."
Once, at the host's urging, he directed one of his trademark burning stares at the camera - while circus music looped in the background.
He also recorded a pre-taped bit in which he sat alone in a room with a bottle of liquor and pretended to spill his innermost secrets.
While Ford says he only "vaguely remembers" the bits, he had fond words for O'Brien.
"He is a good guy," Ford said. "But so is Jay Leno, I enjoy his company. And so is Dave Letterman.
"It's just a tough, tough world."
