PORTLAND, Maine - A company in Maine which runs an oil pipeline between Portland and Montreal is losing one its biggest customers.
A Montreal refinery that gets raw materials through Portland Pipe Line's 380-kilometre-long pipeline will close at the end of the year.
The Portland Press Herald says the refinery's owner, Royal Dutch Shell, is converting the refinery into an oil storage facility.
Portland Pipeline treasurer David Cyr says it's too early to gauge the impact of the closing. He says his company will proceed with "business as usual."
Cyr says that since the pipeline has always been able to adapt to changing market conditions and he's confident that it will continue to do so.
