ARGENTIA, N.L. - The Newfoundland government is kicking in millions of dollars toward the establishment of a new manufacturing operation in Argentia.
Alberta-based JV Driver Corp. will set up the facility to supply steel pressure containers to the mining, oil and gas, and other industries.
The $10-million operation will get up and running with a contribution of $4 million from Newfoundland's business attraction fund.
Business Minister Ross Wiseman says the facility will create many well-paying technical and skilled trades jobs.
JV Driver will establish the Argentia Metalworks in partnership with a local company, D.F. Barnes Group.
Over the next five years, Argentia Metalworks expects to create about 130 jobs.
