Brown takes Grand Champion title at horse show

AMHERST - Emily Brown of Amherst picked up Grand Champion Horse on board her paint horse Arrow during the first Super 8 Maltby Stables Horse Show last weekend.

Brown received a cooler from Co-Op Atlantic-Amherst Country Store and a gift certificate for a night's stay at the Amherst Super 8.

Bobby Stevens of Collingwood earned reserve champion honours on her quarter horse SAQ Chiefs Two Hit.

She received a gift certificate for a night's stay at the Amherst Super 8.

In the pony division, Katrina Bryson of Amherst, on board Ebony's Sugar Pine, earned Grand Champion honours while Amherst's Lauren Smith and Ticle Me Elmo won Reserve Champion honours.

They each won one night stays at the Amherst Super 8.

The one-day show featured participants from Bathurst, Fredericton, Moncton and Cumberland and Westmorland counties.

In total, there were 51 horses and 55 participants ages four to 40.

More than $2,000 in money and prizes was awarded.
