TRURO - The time has come to study the traffic issues at a busy intersection that connects Truro with Highway 102.
Truro town council asked its director of public works, who is also its traffic authority, to study the intersection of McClures Mills Road and Lower Truro Road.
The intersection receives a lot of
traffic with people coming and going to the highway as well as the Wal-Mart development and with the new hospital under construction down the road it may increase the traffic
congestion.
The issue was raised as councillors discussed a development proposal of a multi-unit residential property on Wynn Road, off of Lower Truro Road.
"It is difficult and often dangerous to join in the flow of traffic en route to Truro," Wynn Park Residential Association president George Ellis wrote in a letter to council. "We ask that town council find a way to make this corner safer for all before permitting the construction of the new apartment building on Wynn Road."
Council also received a petition of about 100 residents asking for improvements to the intersection.
In a staff report, the traffic authority said the "intersection will eventually need to be realigned and have traffic signals installed."
