ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Newfoundland Fisheries Minister Tom Hedderson will meet with industry and union officials today as the crisis continues in the province's shrimp fishery.
The shrimp processing business shut down early this month, putting several thousand people out of work.
Fishery union president Earle McCurdy says the minister will be responding to a number of issues brought to him last week by those involved in the fishery.
McCurdy says marketing is just one of the things they need to talk about.
The Association of Seafood Producers says the rising Canadian dollar and a weakening global demand for seafood have hit the province's shrimp industry hard.
