SYDNEY, N.S. - NDP Leader Darrell Dexter campaigned on his party's new platform today, highlighting a promise to bring in a manufacturing tax credit as a way of creating jobs in Nova Scotia.
During a stop at a manufacturing company in Sydney, Dexter said the 10 per cent manufacturing and processing tax credit his party is promising will create more than 2,200 jobs.
Dexter says the tax credit would create an incentive for companies to upgrade to become more competitive.
He argues that companies in Nova Scotia are among the highest taxed in the country.
Using Saskatchewan as an example, Dexter says manufacturers in Nova Scotia pay income taxes that are 60 per cent higher than those in the western province.
