FREDERICTON - A truck driver was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire in his rig near Fredericton.
The fire broke out Monday evening in the cab of the tractor-trailer, carrying fertilizer, on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Oromocto fire Chief Jody Price says the fire was spreading to the trailer and its contents, so they called a chemist with the Canadian Emergency Transport Centre.
Price says the fertilizer was non-explosive, but could produce toxic smoke.
There's no word on what caused the fire.
