CORNER BROOK, N.L. - Newfoundland's Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is shutting down one of its paper machines for an eight-week period running from March 22 to May 17.
The action will result in the temporary layoff of 30 workers.
Kruger, the mill's Montreal-based parent company, confirmed the news Tuesday after informing employees earlier in the day.
The move is part of a 25,000-tonne curtailment in production announced earlier this year.
The eight-week shutdown will account for 13,000 tonnes of that reduction.
