AMHERST PolyCello has been named one of Canadas 50 Best Managed Companies.

A maker of flexible packaging products, the 50-year-old company employs about 350 and is located in the Amherst Industrial Park.

The designation is awarded to Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways.

The award is recognition of our competitive advantage the talent, commitment and dependability of our people, said Stephen Emmerson, president and CEO, PolyCello. To be recognized as one of Canadas Best Managed is a significant honour and one in which we are extremely proud.

The companys packaging is found presenting and preserving food and paper products in millions of North American households.

We believe that there are three vital building blocks to sustainable growth: strategy, capability, and commitment, said John Hughes, a spokesman for Deloitte, a national sponsor of the Best Managed program. PolyCello has demonstrated it is a model of success in all three areas and is duly awarded one of Canadas Best Managed.

2008 winners of the Canadas 50 Best Managed Companies award, along with Requalified and Platinum Club members will be honoured at the annual Best Managed gala in Toronto Feb. 9.

Its really a team effort, said PolyCellos Sarah Cooke. This isnt a management award or an individual award. We work really well as a team and this is a collective acknowledgement of what a great team we are.
