Cumberland County - Casey happy with budget
AMHERST This weeks federal budget announcement was popular with some, despite its $85 billion deficit forecast for the next five years.
Many particulars about the budget caught local MP Bill Casey's eye, including the changes to employment insurance, which Casey says will help people increase their education and training levels.
Other highlights for Casey include the new summer job initiatives, help for the forestry and agriculture sectors, and funding for heritage and cultural events.
MLA demands answers
PUGWASH - Pictou West NDP MLA Charlie Parker is calling on Health Minister Karen Casey to explain to residents in Tatamagouche and Pugwash how she intends to keep their hospitals open.
We have a new minister of health, but the same health problems persist, said Parker. Concerned residents in those areas deserve to see the roadmap the health minister is laying out for health care on the north shore and across Nova Scotia.
