FREDERICTON _ New Brunswickers will be paying more for their milk mustaches starting Sunday.

The New Brunswick Farm Products Commission announced Friday that the price of a litre of milk will rise by 3.6 cents Sunday.

The price of milk in New Brunswick, factoring in the mid-year price increase approved in September, has risen 4.5 per cent this year.

The price hike means dairy producers will receive an additional 3.04 cents per litre.

The commission said in a news release that the increase reflects the inventory cost of livestock feed now being used, which was produced when energy and fertilizer costs were at an all-time high last summer.

The commission says the current reduction in fuel prices are sustained long enough, it should lower production costs in the next growing season.
