OXFORD - A driver was unharmed after the transport truck he was driving slid on Highway 104 Thursday causing the vehicle to overturn.
The driver was traveling eastbound on the River Philip overpass when the incident occurred.
"The driver walked away unharmed, fortunately," said RCMP Const. Paul Calder.
Calder says the driver pulled into the left lane when another transport truck was entering the highway from the eastbound ramp at Exit 6. The driver got stuck in the deeper snow, pulling him into the median.
"He then struck the bridge guardrail, destroying most of that before coming to rest, partially hung up on the bridge over River Philip."
The truck was carrying a load of oranges which spilled from the vehicle, and the Department of Environment arrived on-sence because a quantity of diesel fuel spilled out as well.
The highway was closed for motorists for the majority of the afternoon, as workers hoisted the trailer back onto solid ground.
Calder said it would probably be suppertime before the highway was reopened, as workers had to install a jersey rail.
