ST. JOHNS, N.L. City council has rescinded a motion against drive-thru operations in St. Johns, N.L., after meeting with officials from Tim Hortons.
Two weeks ago, council passed a motion that implemented what it called a moratorium on businesses planning to set up drive-thru operations.
At the time, Mayor Dennis OKeefe said the motion was passed because traffic lining up at the drive-thrus was a public safety concern.
OKeefe said the motion was lifted Monday night because Tim Hortons officials convinced councillors theyre taking steps to deal with the problem, such as acquiring more land to ease congestion at drive-thrus.
But he said businesses will still have to prove to the citys traffic department that traffic flow at drive-thrus wont impede public roads.
